Sappfyre has a keen interest in Human Rights, Indigenous cultures and Black History. As a black woman residing in a largely Indigenous community, she has been able to witness the similar effects of colonialism on both peoples. It has given her an extraordinarily large heart for marginalized peoples. It has also sparked a need to better understand the histories and policies that have tried to batter such a beautiful heritage.
Her passion has made her a keynote speaker for the Manitoba International Womens' day event, and for the Canadian Roots Exchange youth conference.
