My name is Emilie Lanthier. Although I am resident of the Timmins-James Bay riding, I have spent the last four years in Ottawa completing my dual major B.A. degree in Political Science and History with a concentration in International Relations, at Carleton University. I have recently been accepted to further my studies next fall at the University of Queens, where I will be pursuing a two year M.A. program in History. My love for travel, learning and meeting new encouraged me to take my scholarship abroad, where I had the opportunity to study at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland last year. As the Global Buddies co-ordinator for Carleton University’s international exchange community, my work as a peer-assisted study session facilitator, and a representative for my local police service as a youth ambassador, I am very invested and well versed in both my hometown and university communities. As a highly self-motivated and result-oriented student and individual, I take pride in working hard and collaborating with others to accomplish my goals to the best of my abilities. I believe that my transdisciplinary knowledge and interests in Canadian and International politics and history, coupled with my leadership experiences in school, the workplace, and in my community, have given me the necessary skills to understand and address the various structural and systemic issues in my community.
