Hannah Jackson: Sackville-Preston-Chezzetcook

My name is Hannah. I am from the Eastern Shore in Nova Scotia and I live and breathe by the ocean. Since I was young, I have struggled with mental health. These challenges have paved the way for me to fall even more in love with photography; something I have always enjoyed. When I started college in Fall of 2016, my devotion to photography and exploring had become the central aspect of my life. As I learned more about my passion, (I was taking a diploma in Photography) and the opportunities it brought with it, I realized there was more that I could be doing. While running a photography business, I am diving head first into becoming a mental health advocate and am excited to create a better future for generations to come. I am doing this through the power of photography and with the help of others who have a similar drive and passion. For September 2019, I am registered for a diploma in Non Profit Leadership. It is my goal to be able to use my photography and the non profit leadership knowledge, skills and networking connections to help give back to my community. One of my initial projects in this field is supported by Taking It Global, who provided a grant to fund me in the creation of a book that will include local stories of those who have struggled with mental health and are now working on making a change in their communities by opening up and sharing some of the strategies and skills that helped them to successfully manage the hard times.
