Israel Mohammed is originally from Ethiopia. She moved to Newfoundland Labrador in 2012 with her brother Adonias Mohammed. Israel is a hard-working student and participated in many school committees while in Junior High and High school, She was involved with the sharing our cultures committee, mental health club, student council, as well as a African dancing group. She also volunteered with senior care homes and the Association for New Canadians, where she was able to apply her own personal experiences to aid children new to Canada. Israel has continued this dedication and involvement since enlisting in Memorial University. Since Israel family sustains themselves on a single income, supplied by their mother, Israel has taken part-time jobs since she was sixteen. She continues to work part-time while studying in University in order to afford tuition and assist her mother with the cost of living. Israel and her family share core values of education, respect, and compassion. They are loyal to their family, both in Ethiopia and Canada, and work tirelessly to support each other.
